1087 IT – Network Section Manager Expertise
MetaOps is seeking candidates in metro areas in Florida to be considered for interim contracting and contract-to-hire roles with our growing nation-wide customer base with the noted software. The kinds of roles range from acting in the IT Program / Project Management, and subject matter expert roles such as a Network Section Manager.
Skills in demand include a new initiative to oversee day to day operations and network infrastructure staff. What’s needed is a talented resource who can engage full time for at least the next six months and possibly much longer to primarily perform the hands-on work of directing IT activities including network administration, technology infrastructure and network security systems. The customer is open to contracting or a contract-to-hire option to fill this role.
The ideal candidate must have previous and recent hands-on experience directing IT activities including network administration, technology infrastructure and network security systems.
Knowledge in these areas of IT is important:
- Network and security best practices for a geographically dispersed, enterprise level environment.
- Disaster recovery and incident response planning and best practices.
- Best practices for implementing a variety of networking and routing protocols including TCP/IP OSPF, RIP, IGRP, DNS, and DHCP in a secure, geographically dispersed, enterprise level environment.
- Networking and security concepts, practices, issues, options, and methodologies with cloud-based networks.
- Local and wide area networking communications mediums for voice, data and video networks.
- Computer and communication system evaluation, selection and implementation practices.
- Research methodologies and mediums
- Operating characteristics, capabilities, and limitations of computers, networks, security and communication systems and related equipment.
- Complexities of a full-service Information Technology operation in an enterprise level environment.
Skills in these areas:
- Project management of large, complex, technical projects
- Management and supervisory practices and procedures including hiring, training, motivating, mentoring, performance improvement, and discipline.
- Creating technical statements of work (SOW), reviewing contracts for technical accuracy and completeness and vendor management.
- Perform all aspects of network administration which include installation, configuration, modifying, maintaining, updating, replacing, migrating, patching, optimizing, interfacing, troubleshooting, segmenting, integrating, virtualizing, clustering, protecting, securing, and documenting a variety of network and security infrastructure devices like firewalls, routers, switches, access points, network monitoring systems, camera systems, and encryption devices.
- Ability to determine root cause of network disruptions and downtime.
- Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct activities of a group of employees with technical and/or specialized skills.
- Read, understand, analyze, troubleshoot, and determine improvements to network and technical diagrams and documentation
- Interact efficiently and effectively with others
- Administer and manage multiple technical programs and projects simultaneously.
- Write report, business correspondence, job descriptions, and policies and procedures
- Work under stressful conditions
- Able to relocate to other county locations based on operational needs
Desired but not mandatory the candidate has:
- 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in systems, network, applications, support and/or security administration
- 2+ years of supervisory experience managing complex information technology systems and staff
- Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field
- Public Sector / Law Enforcement Environments
- East Central Florida location or willing to self-relocate
- Has working understanding of the major HR processes including hiring and onboarding

Qualifications
- 5+ years of work experience in progressively more responsible roles in IT leadership and / or consulting.
- 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in systems, network, applications, support and/or security administration
- 2+ years of supervisory experience managing complex information technology systems and
- Project Management – PMP or equivalent Certification very helpful
- Proven track record with referenced case studies of accomplishments.
- Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field
